When welding two pieces of pipe together, the ends of the pipe must be properly prepared to obtain the best possible weld joint.  The pipe or tube is typically beveled on the ends to facilitate the joining of the two pieces by forming a "V" between them.

The most common bevel, however, is a straight -1/2 degree bevel measured off of the face of the pipe.  This forms a 75 degree angle between the two pieces of pipe and there is normally a “land” or small flat.

The cheapest way to create a pipe bevel is to use a hand grinder. However, this method of bevel creation is the dirtiest and also the least safe method. A pipe beveling machine, on the other hand, is a quick, safe way to create a bevel and allows for much greater volume.

With pipe beveling machines, there are a number of options to suit nearly any application. These include portable machines, as well as standalone machines that can be easily incorporated into a production line.
