Pipe facing options like hand grinding, flame cutting, hand held bevelers, and lathes are all time consuming, labor intensive processes. Hand grinding, flame cutting, hand held bevelers, and lathes are all time consuming processes, so they aren't well suited to high volume applications. A standard pipe bevel angle for welding is 37.5 degrees. His manufacturing team of pipe fitters was wasting up to 30 minutes to hand bevel just one pipe end for weld preparation. Quality was also an issue so he decided to find a better way.
