What are reduced collets?
Reduced collets are used for the ChamerMate®, and have a reduced internal thickness that fixtures short bolts, studs, and rods.
What are reduced collets used for?
Reduced collets are used to hold short parts for chamfering and deburring operations. In some cases the cutting head would not be able to reach the work piece without a reduced collet. They are also used for parts that have non-uniform axial geometry.
Do I need any other special equipment or adapters?
Reduced collets are designed to work in any of the ChamferMate® just like traditional collets. No extra equipment is needed.
MSI can make custom collets for non round parts (square or hex bar), and other specific needs. These reduced collets add an extra degree of flexibility for chamfering bolts and deburring studs.
