Midwest Supply of Minnesota, located in Minnetonka, MN, is a supplier of fasteners to a wide variety of industries and they had a problem. One of their fastener product lines for water works facilities was taking off and they could no longer afford to manually thread nuts on 3/4" bolts. Ted Bastian only had to recall a time when he was growing up to know the solution.
"Growing up as a kid I used to work in my grandfather's fastener business and we used a spinner table to automate threading nuts onto bolts. Boy did that table make our lives easier. So when we faced the same problem of increasing demand for our 3/4" bolts and nuts I remembered that the table my grandfather used was from a company in Beaumont, TX. Well it didn't take long to find MSI online and we immediately bought a double station NutMate™ assembly table. Our capacity went from under 300 bolts per hour to over 1,000 and we can do 2,000 per hour when we have people working both stations. Bolts and nuts often have nicks or barbs that make them difficult to thread by hand and the NutMate™ makes quick work of just about any defect. There is no way we could keep up with demand without the NutMate™", says Mr. Bastian.
NutMate™ nut assembly tables are used extensively in the fastener industry for assembling nuts onto studs, bolts, and similar items prior to shipment. Easy changeover and simple operation speeds the assembly process.
